Greenhill Pet Food Drive Update 7/31/24: Our community donated a whopping 334 pounds of cat and dog food on July 7th and 464 pounds of cat and dog food on July 28th for a total of 798 pounds! We are blown away by the generosity of our Bethel area neighbors. THANK YOU to everyone who donated and everyone who stopped by the ABC table regardless of whether they were able to donate. Donations from the July 7 pet food drive were delivered to Greenhill on July 9th. Donations from the July 28 pet food drive were delivered to Greenhill on July 31. Greenhill staff were thrilled by the volume of food donated and are putting it to good use.

About the Food Pantry Committee

ABC's Food Pantry Committee organizes food drives for local pantries and non-profit organizations that work to reduce food insecurity. Pantries and organizations ABC has worked with include the Bethesda Lutheran Church food pantry, FOOD For Lane County, and the Greenhill Humane Society pet pantry.

Committee members engage in volunteer activities such as:

-Arranging donation sites where ABC can place its donation barrels

-Dropping off barrels at donation sites and picking them up when a food drive is complete

-Collecting donations from barrels every 1-2 weeks during an active food drive

-Weighing and tracking donations made at each site

-Delivering food donations to participating food pantries every 1-2 weeks

-Planning future food drives

-Producing communications materials to promote food drives

Committee members who want to drop off or pick up donation barrels must have access to a truck or other large vehicle.
