First Friday ArtWalk at the Farmer’s Market Pavilion

EUGENE BRiGHT Parade is proud to sponsor the August First Friday ArtWalk with our Parade Collaborators. We’ve got BRiGHT creative endeavors for Artwalkers to enjoy: make an illuminated parade hat and wear it proudly, create a human-powered work of art with Shift Community Cycle's Spin Art Bike, get hands on with lighting possibilities from the Eugene MakerSpace team, and pick up a KiNDESS sign, button or sticker from our 2026 theme partners at The Kindr Foundation. This year’s parade comes to life through the generosity of our neighbors, shaped around a single idea: kindness. Join us to see what compassion can build, or step forward to create it yourself. Either way you’ll help this year’s light shine a little brighter for all.

Join us for Creativity Illuminated, a hands-on How to Parade workshop designed to help you transform your ideas into an illuminated parade entry. Whether you're representing an organization, neighborhood, business, community group, or simply your own creative vision, we'll explore how to translate your group's spirit into art in motion.

Together, we'll explore:

·   What are you hoping to celebrate, amplify, or share?

·   How do you translate that into art in motion?

·   How can light, movement, choreography, and procession bring it to life?

·   What materials, techniques, and resources can help make it happen?

We'll provide hands-on materials for sketching and prototyping, examples and inspiration from past parades and illuminated art, and light snacks.

Whether you're arriving with a fully formed vision or just the spark of an idea, you'll leave with practical next steps, fresh inspiration, and a clearer path toward creating a sensational BRiGHT Parade entry.

Got your parade entry built but haven’t moved it or lit it up yet? Want to see how it looks in the dark before parade night? Not sure what lights to buy, where to find them, or how to keep it glowing for 90 minutes?

Join us for Light It Up, our hands-on BRiGHT Build Workshop — and your chance to migrate and test your entry in a dark venue before the BRiGHT Parade on September 26.

Whether you’re arriving with just an idea, a partial build, or lighting and gear you want to test, we’ll help you take the technical leap from concept to illuminated art in motion.

Together, we’ll explore:

·   What lighting to buy, what to avoid, and where to find it locally

·   How different setups work — from simple fairy lights to programmable LED rigs

·   How your entry actually looks in the dark, with lights-out rounds to test, adjust, and try again

·   How to keep it running — power sources, troubleshooting, and parade-night pitfalls

We’ll provide hands-on demonstrations, build-and-test time with experienced workshop leads, and a lighting resource sheet to take home. You’ll leave with your lighting questions answered and a clear path to a glowing, parade-ready entry.

It doesn’t have to be difficult. It just has to be illuminated!
